Kindy Christmas Concert

You know how the end of year kindy concert can be quite tiresome, with the same old songs and a million awards??? ....well, not ours.
This year my little girl was part of: 'A Convict Christmas'
These kids are 5 and 6 years old, it was outstanding! I knew they had been practising but not to this standard.
The big boys ran to the front to get good seats, so we were sitting right near three teachers who all watched with so much love on their faces, it made me melt thinking of the time and love they give our children each and every day. It really blew us away.

It was so beautiful, entertaining and professional... and it only went for just over an hour. Perfect.
But it still came complete with the kid who needed to go to the toilet, and the one who spent the entire play waving at rellies, and the one who couldn't contain his excitement, and the one who couldn't get her 'Mary mantle' to sit quite right, and a tired "Joseph", and a twitcher....
Just the right amount of giggles, perfect!

I can't believe my little girl has almost finished her first year of school.
Where did that year go?
(her first day, looking like stunned mullet!)

Another 12 to go princess!
Love you.

Kids were here

A few months back I linked up with the Kids were project, a collaborative project involving lots of different photographers sharing their view of what life with children looks like. Here are my link ups in: June: and August:

As you may have read in my last few posts, this past week has been taken up largely by Christmas Craft workshops, so a few things have slipped under the decipline radar (but not the camera lens)
Warning: some images may offend viewers!

God has a funny sense of humour giving me three boys (+ 1 girl).
If you are a mum to multiple boys, you may relate
hereherehereherehere.....and the list goes on.

Much Love

11 years !

How can it be, my boy was 11 yesterday. Where did that time go? I remember his birth VIVDLY. Ooo the horror of it!
The puffy-anemic-stunned-faced photos say it all. I was in so much shock I don't reckon I blinked for a fortnight, but once I had him under my wing at home my life as a devoted mum began and continues with a love deeper than I ever imagined. He tests me daily (sometimes hourly) but he has a heart bigger than himself and so again and again, I kiss him goodnight and tell him I love him to the moon and back.

(puffy morning eyes make him look a bit like Robert De Niro! "...this is a-espicy-a-meat-a-ball")

I wish I could find the card Buz got from Jimmy, he wrote something to this effect:
"Happy Buz-day, Thanks for teaching me the cheats of life.
From Jimmy"

Hmmmm, should I even ask ?!?!

He has some friends coming over tonight for pizza and a movie I have been banned from making anything match scratchy, no colour co-ordinated anything, no lolly bags, no fancy bunting, no musical chairs....nada.
"Just coke and chips mum."
Roger that.

 Love you Buz,
Mum x

Kids Were Here

A few months back I linked up with the Kids were here project, a collaborative project involving lots of different photographers sharing their view of what life with children looks like. Here was my link up from June, and now for August:

A picture tells a thousand words.
I'll leave it at that for today, time for a cuppa....my emotional tank needs some love, caffeine at the very least.

Gotta love em'

Back to the grind!

It's been a few days and I feel I have to touch base with you, but to be honest, there isn't much to tell.
After a sunny sunday filled with 5 loads of washing and a visit from Uncle Nick and Ez, our wonderful winter holiday came to a grinding holt. On monday we gave our lives over to the education board and the steering wheel for another 10 weeks, my only consolation is that I have my treash home for 1 more day without the little people (well 2 anyway).

So today its tuesday and hubby has decided to take Lulu to the movies for a daddy/daughter date whilst I get my paintings all wrapped up for Cairns. I mentioned it was "cheap tuesday", and suggested he could say she was a fully grown baby and get into a 'babes in arms session'. He replied "how about I take you to the movies tonight. I'll carry you to the counter all frocked up in a sexy number say to the Greater Union Staff that i'm cashing in on 'Babes in Arms' twice today!
Sorry, another silly joke, but he made me laugh.
He is so lucky he married me b/c I don't think anyone else would laugh at his stupidity.

Anyway the movies isn't happening, we are off to the footy instead. An English team has come out to play our school, but after all the English victories lately i'm not holding my breath.

My day in images:

I lined Bear up with some balsa and tacks so I could get some work done. Hours of fun.

I hung a few at the local cafe.
And a sent two in the truck.

And then it all got too much for one little Bear.

Hopefully something more magically mundane to tell you in the days to come.

The Lone Throne

I never thought I'd get so much pleasure from solo toileting, the chance to sit without disruption, know what I'm talking about?
I'm in my 11th year of being a mum and its been about that long since this activity has become a treat.
I never thought I'd creep down the hall in stealth mode, looking over my shoulder so as not to alert little beans that I'm visiting the commode. But before I get to the end of the contents on the back of the moisturiser bottle, I hear  "Mum where are youuuuuuuu.....Mummmmmm.....MUMMMM" .every. single. time.
I stay mute, eyes darting to and from the door. Did I lock it? nope, I never do just incase there truly is an emergency. Not sure why, just that voice inside my head. I suppose I could fix the problem if I just locked the silly door, but then I'd get the bashing variety of interruption.
What would you rather ?
1. the screaming, bashing, door thumping interruption
or
2. the chatting, helping, "what doing"....interruption

Neither, I get that, me too. But it's seems inevitable here. I don't even think a Navy SEAL trained in covert operations could get in and out undetected in my place.
I'm not sure if I should change tack, perhaps make an announcement before I head off down the hall, or just continue to pursue my elite soldier-style mission?

It still baffles me why they hunt me down in there.

Maria, how do I solve the problem?

Prank HQ

I had some fascinating, witty and insightful story to share with you all but just now when I logged on my silly mouse wasn't working, so I fiddled around for a while, unplugged it and then WHAMO  spotted the problem:

And now I have forgotten what I was going to tell you.
This is the second time today he has pranked me. This arvo, with everyone else aware of the joke, I played some online game at his request and at the end when I was supposed to be looking closely for the missing object in the puzzle some freakish looking monster jumped out at me. I literally screamed the house down, I even scared the pranker with my reaction (bonus). My treash thought it was hilarious.
Last time I trust anyone in this house.

Oh I remember now, so it wasn't as witty and insightful as I had thought, but truly mundane and magic.
With all the rain we have had, look what I found.

These ones were hummers, bigger than my hands and Oh so pretty!

Well, I've been told there may be some more tricks around the place so I'm going to sign out early and go and investigate....i'm thinking gladwrapped toilet? perhaps short-sheeted bedsheets? Who knows with these turkeys.

Over and out

Mischief

I woke up to these beautiful rays and within a couple of hours there were 13 little cousins buzzing around. The biggies were in the creek catching crays most of the day and the little girls were supposedly dressing up for a play, until one dibber-dobbed spilt the beans....
While the mums were catching up over a hot cuppa, the little girls were into my makeup.  I marched down the hall with my angry thumping feet but when I saw the excitement on their faces all I could do was take some happy snaps. Yesterday Mrs Beetle told us to "manage less, enjoy more", so thats what I did. All the lippys were screwed right to the top, my eye shadow now has 'L' and 'A' etched in it, my mascara is sticky and my blush is still MIA.

Sorry for the copious amount of photos, but its holidays and I have to capture these magic moments.
Too many photos and not enough time to write.

With Love
